Geronimo Creek: Implementing a Watershed Protection Plan - Education and Outreach
Background
The lower portion of Geronimo Creek has been impaired for elevated bacteria since 2006. The segment also had concerns for elevated nitrate-nitrogen in 2000 and 2010. In 2012, local stakeholders completed the Geronimo Creek and Alligator Creek Watershed Protection Plan (WPP).
Project Description
This project is a collaborative effort between the Guadalupe-Blanco River Authority and the Seguin Outdoor Learning Center. Demonstration BMPs constructed at the Seguine Outdoor Learning Center serve as an outdoor classroom area where residents can learn about nonpoint source pollution. Digital kiosks, portable presentations, and public service announcements introduced the public to the demonstration BMPs.
