Hazardous Waste: The Permit Process

Requirements and procedures for obtaining permits related to the management of hazardous wastes.

If required to obtain a hazardous waste permit under state rules, do the following:

Contact TCEQ staff well before you apply for the permit (not a requirement, but highly recommended). Our staff will help you determine:

an original paper copy and one electronic copy of the Part A application (Form TCEQ-0283)

an original paper copy and one electronic copy of the Part B application (Form TCEQ-00376)
- Form TCEQ-00376 (Part B Application with Screening Tool)
  Download and save for proper function.

a complete Part B Administrative and Technical Evaluation Checklist (Form TCEQ-00136) on CD or DVD
- Form TCEQ-00136 (in Excel) : allows for selection of applicable sections of the application
- Form TCEQ-00136 (in Word) : allows for use with assistive technology
preprinted mailing labels for adjacent landowners, or an electronic mailing list on compact disc in Microsoft Office Word format
a completed Core Data Form (Form TCEQ-10400): Core Data Form and Instructions
NEW a completed Plain Language Summary Form: English, Spanish, Instructions
Include any CDs/DVDs with the paper copy
Electronic copies of the application submittals can be sent to IHWPER@tceq.texas.gov
For transfer of files that are too large to be emailed to and from the TCEQ (files larger than 25 MB), please use the TCEQ FTPS (texas.gov)

Send the check (payable to the TCEQ) for your application fee to the TCEQ Financial Administration Division; include proof of payment in the Part B application.
